“It was like nobody could share my so-called dreams”

Kick the Tragedy

The Drop Nineteens’ cover of Madonna’s Angel stood out to me at the time. he wonderful single Winona is in the same camp.

But Kick the Tragedy just sits there waiting.

The guitars sound like slowed down horns.
The bass hovers.
It wants in and it’s in no hurry.

After 5 and a half minutes the noise stops. Have they gone? No.

Someone starts talking.
“I think it was the first time I realised that I can change the world…”

Exactly 120 seconds before the end of the track, the guitar-horns come back around for a second try. It sounds like drunk police cars are circling your house. You’d probably best open up.

Is it angry? No, just disappointed. “Fucking Phil, he’s off with his boys somewhere “
